# Chinput: Chinese input online (中文在线输入法), no install

> Free Chinese input online (中文在线输入法), in the browser. Type pinyin without tones, speak Mandarin, 國語 or Cantonese, or draw characters, and get Chinese text to copy into Word, email or WeChat. Simplified and Traditional (Taiwan, Hong Kong). No install, account or admin rights, so it works on locked-down office, school, library and church computers.

## Current deployment
- Public website: https://chinput.net
- Optional AI helpers are currently disabled; pinyin and local tools work without them.
- Voice availability depends on the browser and speech provider.

## What it does
- Pinyin input: toneless pinyin (nihao → 你好), initials (ggqc → 公共汽车), whole sentences, v for ü (lvse → 绿色); learns your choices
- Voice typing in Mandarin, 國語 and Cantonese; handwriting recognition; English or other languages → Chinese (AI, when enabled)
- Scenes that rank their words first and offer ready sentences: Church (教会), Trending searches (热搜), TV & movies (影视), Online shopping (网购), Food & delivery (外卖·餐厅), Taxi & Didi (打车), Places & maps (找地方), Hotel & train (酒店·火车), Renting (租房), Parcels (快递), Doctor & pharmacy (看病·买药), Suppliers (采购·工厂), Bank & phone (银行·手机)
- Classical poetry: ~34,000 lines (唐诗三百首, 宋词三百首, 千家诗, 诗经, 论语, 古文观止) typeable by full pinyin or initials (cqmyg → 床前明月光); voice input corrects misheard poem lines; a poem of the day with a generated ink-wash painting
- Chinese lunar calendar (农历, 干支, 生肖, 节气) and the coming festivals with greetings in characters and pinyin
- Stroke-order animation, pinyin over characters, 简繁 conversion, read aloud, search Google, Baidu or YouTube with the text
- Pinyin typing and handwriting run on the device; text leaves it only for voice (the browser's speech service) or AI buttons
